BRETT and Janice McCamley, Fern Hills Grazing, Bajool, were more than happy to play on both sides of the trade equation during Brahman Week.
On the one hand they sold a draft of 12 bulls, parting with them to a high of $30,000, on an average of $8500.
Their top priced seller, the 24 month-old Fern Hills Voodoo 3387 (D) went to the Thompson family, Ingham, and Mr McCamley was in two minds afterwards.
"He was a very nice bull and even though we have a lot of the same genetics in our herd back home I would have been happy to take him home," he said.
"But the name of the game is to get your bulls out there in other herds and see them working for other people and he has always been a standout. We wish the new owners all the best."
On another hand, Fern Hills was a buyer, paying $40,000 for Jileaba 0579 (AI) (ET) (H) from the draft of Reade and Jill Radel, Yebna, Injune.
Aged 24 months after a calving in October 2017, the young bull was a solidly built article, tipping the scales at 918kg.
His scrotal circumference is 40cm with semen motility of 80pc and respective P8 and rib fat measurements of 15mm and 12mm. Even more importantly, he has an eye muscle area of 136 sq cm and an IMF of 4.9pc.
"He is our type of sire," Mr McCamley said. "I liked him when I saw him and his figures are impressive."
