All the burning questions that people from Greenvale and Charters Towers regions have been wondering in relation to the Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative can be asked at drop-in sessions planned for June.
Being held by the Department of Defence, they were announced last week by the Charters Towers Regional Council, which Mayor Frank Beveridge said they were fully endorsing and encouraging attendance at.
He said they were a bid by the department to ensure locals were informed about the project and what potential there was for local businesses to capitalise on the opportunity.
"Since the project's inception, we've been very vocal about encouraging locals to learn about this significant project for our region, as well as seek out potential business opportunities" Cr Beveridge said.
"It's great to see two informal sessions are being held in our community.
"They are open to anyone and are free to attend.
"You may just want to ask what ASMTI is about or you may have a burning question you want answered."
Defence representatives will be on hand to discuss the ASMTI's progress and how anyone, from a small-acre farmer to local tradies can get involved in the project.
The two sessions will take place on June 9, beginning at Greenvale's community hall anytime between 9 and 11am, before moving to the Excelsior Library in Gill Street in Charters Towers between 3 and 5pm.
The ASMTI is part of a $2.25 billion investment by the Singapore government to build a training area at Greenvale and expand the existing one at Shoalwater Bay near Rockhampton.
Up to 14,000 Singapore armed forces will train in Queensland for up to 18 weeks each year once the initiative reaches maturity.
