Head of Boarding Lesa Fowler has led St Margaret's boarding since 2008 and is proud to outline the aspects of the boarding house that she believes families most appreciate.

Location

Situated high on a hill in the leafy suburb of Ascot, St Margaret's is 15 minutes from Brisbane Airport and the CBD and one hour's drive from the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

"The dormitories are in the heart of the campus - no busy roads to cross or traffic noise to lay awake to - and the boarders can walk, with appropriate supervision, down to the nearest shops," Ms Fowler said.

Facilities

St Margaret's dormitories are air-conditioned and many enjoy views out to the city or the western ranges.

"The Dining Room provides a variety of healthy meals, catering for all dietary and cultural requirements, with flexible scheduling around extracurricular activities," she said.

"The modern sports centre is the best backyard a boarder could have, with a pool, gymnasium, indoor and outdoor courts, and an indoor rock-climbing wall."

Academic support

"Day school teachers take prep, helping to ensure the girls are on track with their work, and the day and boarding staff maintain close connections."

Boarders come from a wide range of educational backgrounds and special Year 7 literacy and numeracy programs in the boarding house help close any gaps that exist due to varying primary school models.

Wellbeing

St Margaret's is one of few full-time boarding schools.

"The absence of weekly boarders means there is not an exodus on weekends from the house, so there is always plenty of company and, with a full time dedicated boarding well-being and activities coordinator, there are always exciting activities to engage the girls on the weekends."

The boarding staff are highly experienced and there is a layered approach to supervision.
