The prime cattle consisted of 12 bullocks, nine bulls and 20 cows. Store cattle consisted of 32 steers, 50 heifers, two cows and 105 mickeys.
Agents said the sale comprised a limited number of prime and store cattle on offer. They said the market for yearling heifers 200 - 300kg and steers 400 - 600kg reached over 200c/kg.
The yarding was drawn from Kowanyama, Laura and local and coastal areas.
Prime quotes:
Steers and bullocks 400-600kg sold to 206c and averaged 166c, and steers 600-750kg reached 188c, averaging 159c. Cows 400-500kg made 112c and averaged 95c, cows 500-600kg reached 122c, averaging 100c. Bulls 500-650kg made 135c and averaged 129c, while bulls over 650kg reached 138c to average 124c.
Store quotes:
Yearling steers under 200kg reached 130c to average 130c, yearling steers 200 - 300kg sold to 160c, averaging 144c, and yearling steers 300 - 400kg topped at 146c and averaged 146c.
Steers 200 - 300kg sold to 112c, averaging 112c, steers 300 - 400kg topped at 180c and averaged 108c.
Yearling heifers under 200kg topped at 78c and averaged 78c, yearling heifers 200 - 300kg sold to 230c, averaging 149c.
Heifers under 300kg topped at 136c and averaged 131c.
Cows 300-400kg reached 50c, average 45c.
Bulls under 200kg reached 146c, average 146c, bulls 200-300kg made 154c, average 87c, and bulls 300-500kg reached 132c, average 72c.
