EXTRA processors joined the buying panel at the Central Queensland Livestock Exchange pushing the cow price 31c to reach 377c/kg for a Brahman cross line during the prime and store sale on Wednesday.
The top-quality offering, from Amberkolly Grazing Company, weighed 600kg and returned $2262/hd.
Morgan Harris, TopX Gracemere, said the national short supply for finished cattle had led to the market rise for cows.
"With two extra processors operating in the buying panel, cow and export lines sold at significantly dearer prices," Mr Harris said.
"Overall, the market was firm to dearer across the board as we had our usual run of local and NSW buyers securing weaner and feeder runs."
Other highlights in the cow market included an E Graham, Wowan, Brahman cross offering which climbed to 371c and weighed 625kg to return $2320/head.
Ken Schultz, Mt Larcom, also made the top price of 377c for a 587kg Grey Brahman pen which achieved $2214/hd.
Welcome rainfall in the northern CQLX catchment area reduced the complete yarding to 1348 head with stock drawn from Collinsville and Mount Coolon.
