Far North Queensland graziers continue to take advantage of fierce market trends, as two new records for store heifers and mickeys were broken at the Mareeba prime and store sale on Tuesday.
Combined agents yarding a total of 1422 head, including 63 head selling at open auction, with the overall, yard averaging 434.3c/kg or $1416 per head.
The price for yearling heifers hit another saleyard record, with a pen hitting 650.2c/kg, while mickeys climbed to 759.2c/kg.

Sale highlights
Overall, 418 bulls averaged 325.8c/kg, selling to a top of 552.2c/kg, while eight bobby calves averaged 474.7c/kg, selling to a top of 498.2c/kg.
The cow market remained strong, with 136 cows selling to average 347.7c/kg, with one pen selling to a top of 398.2c/kg.
Steers averaged 450.8c/kg, with 388 steers selling to a top of 614.2c/kg, while 80 heifers averaged 436.7c/kg, selling to a top of 540c/kg.
Yearling bulls averaged 624.3c/kg, selling to a top and saleyard record of 759.2c/kg, while 166 yearling heifers averaged 520.8c/kg, selling for a saleyard record top of 650.2c/kg.
Yearling steers averaged 645c/kg, selling to a top of 759.2c/kg.
Two cows and calves hit $2670, one cow and calf sold for $2710, while eight cows and calves hit $2900.
Thirty eight DMx santa cross cows and calves, offered by Calleja at Innisfail, sold for $2590 per head.
