Flinders Shire Council are driving a new campaign to encourage locals to shop in the shire this Christmas.
Teaming up with the Hughenden Chamber of Commerce, the 'Shop Local This Christmas campaign' was launched yesterday in a bid to encourage residents to spend locally these holidays.
Locals can enter by spending more than $20 at any business in the Flinders Shire, with a $1000 draw prize voucher up for grabs, to be spent at any Chamber of Commerce Member business.
Eligible customers will be required to deposit their receipts, with their name and details, into one of the designated boxes provided, with winners drawn on December 3 as part of the community Christmas party.
Flinders Shire Council Mayor Jane McNamara said the Council was delighted to partner with the local Chamber of Commerce on the campaign.
"I think this is a fantastic joint initiative between Council and the Chamber to help improve the local economy," said Cr McNamara.
"There are some amazing businesses around our Shire which have jumped on board with this campaign, and I'd like to thank the Chamber for their involvement.
"By spending locally, residents not only get to put back into our wonderful community, but also have the chance to win a surprise early Christmas present."
Hughenden Chamber of Commerce Pete Fornasier said the Chamber is 100 per cent behind locals supporting each other.
"This initiative reinforces our continued commitment to the growth of local businesses," he said.
Entrants must reside in the Flinders shire and be permanent residents of Queensland to be eligible to enter.
Multiple entries are permitted by customers during the duration of the promotion, with one entry per receipt.
