With some mixed rainfall reports around the district Emerald agents yarded one of the smallest yardings to date with just over 230 head at Thursday's sale.
A mixed quality yarding was evident with most categories seeing too few in each weight range to reliably compare to previous weeks.
Heavier feeder type steers made to 450c while light weight feeder types reached 540c. A line of young females from Alpha saw the 400kg types reach 478c to average 430c, while heavy cows made to 399c reflecting the quality that was on offer. A small pen of cows and calves made $2525/unit.
The Horn family, Capella, sold Droughtmaster cows reaching 399c to weigh 580kg or $2315, while their heifers made to 441c and weighed 420kg to return $1853. Brad Mestrez, Springsure, sold Droughtmaster heifers to 488c to weigh 222kg or $1086.
Arcturus Downs, Springsure, sold 487kg Droughtmaster cows for 411c and $2001, while their weaner heifers sold for 528c for 233kg and $1232. Bellroy Past Co, Alpha, had their 560kg Droughtmaster cows sell for 394c and $2211, while their No. 8 heifers made 464c for 404kg and $1874. David and Lynette Keene, Emerald, offered Brahman cross heifers for 446c, weighing 324kg and $1444.
