A large enthusiastic crowd of commercial and stud beef cattlemen and women competed strongly for future sires on offer at the annual Barcoo Breeders sale at Blackall on Tuesday.
With 85 registered bidders, the sale was started at a hectic pace and continued in that vein until the last bull was sold.
Between them, Forest Park and Drensmaine offered 104 bulls with a 100 per cent clearance, grossing $1,505,000.00 to return the excellent average of $14,476.
Top selling bull on the day was Drensmaine Icon (P) who sold for $46,000 and was purchased by James and Sarah Pearson and family, Bull Creek Santa Gertrudis stud, McKinlay.
At 24 months, Icon weighed 916kgs, had a daily liveweight gain of 1.23kgs, a massive EMA of 143 square centimetres, intramuscular fat of 6.3pc, an outstanding morphology count of 93pc, and P8 and rib fat of 13mm and 10mm.
His sire was Drensmaine E149 (P) and his dam was Drensmaine 9140 (P).
Second top price achieved was for Forest Park Nuclear (P), who sold for $42,500 and was purchased by Mandy Curran, Talleyrand, Longreach.
Nuclear was sired by Forest Park 9716 (P) and his dam is Forest Park 394 (P).
Several prospective bidders commented on his sire appeal before the sale.
At just 19 months he scaled in at 800kgs, had a DLG of 1.37kgs, an EMA of 136 square cm, IMF of 5.2pc, morphology of 76pc and P8 and rib fat of 10mm and 7mm respectively.
Third top price achieved on the day was for Drensmaine Implanter (P), who sold for $40,000 and was purchased by the Kramer Family, TLC Pastoral Company Alice Springs NT.
It was great to see many past buyers return to Blackall, but equally it was nice to see the number of new buyers attend.

Stewart and Anna Weir, Sandover Pastoral Company, Amaroo Station via Alice Springs purchased eight bulls for an average of $10,500.
Paraway Pastoral Company also took home eight bulls to average $8,625.
The Pavy Family, Greenhills Cattle Company, Green Hills, Tambo secured six bulls to average $11,500.
Albinia Pastoral Company, Old Twin Hills, Clermont purchased five bulls to average $10,600.
JM & JD Chandler, Kyneton, Barcaldine secured four bulls to average $17,000.
GW Welsh Pty Ltd, Bimerah, Stonehenge took home four bulls, averaging $16,250.
Buyers attended from Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Blackall, Aramac, Mitchell, Barcaldine, Clermont, Arcadia Valley, Alpha, Augathella, Springsure, Muttaburra, Stonehenge, Quilpie, Emerald, Taroom, Winton, Tambo, Kuttabul, St George, Longreach, Blackwater, Hughenden, Mungallala, Theodore, Proston, and Gindie in Queensland, and Mullaley, Kyogle and Baryulgil in NSW.
