Lake Julius operators Sunwater say the lake will be off limits to the public next week
Sunwater said Julius Dam will be temporarily closed to the public from 7am on Monday, September 13, until 5pm on Friday, September 17 due to maintenance work.
"This closure applies to the entire site, including recreation and picnic areas, lookouts, facilities, and the boat ramp," Sunwater said.
"Signage will be in place on site to advise of the closure.
"Thank you for your patience while this work is undertaken."
The closure comes as Mount Isa City Council conducts unrelated upgrade works of the Lake Julius Road.
Council is upgrading a natural creek crossing of gravel on Lake Julius Road to a concrete floodway. The project is anticipated to be completed by October.
The upgrade works are being delivered under the joint Commonwealth-State funded Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements through the $102 million Betterment Fund established after the 2019 monsoon trough flood event.
