The backing of a loyal western Queensland base helped the Bredhauer family's Lambert Stud boost its average price by $800 and its gross by a third at its tenth annual bull sale on Monday.
That was no more evident than when last year's purchasers of the top priced Hereford and Charbray sires were back for more and topped the sale again this year.
CA Hauff and Sons paid $12,000 for Lambert Quebec (P), a 23-month-old Hereford bull sired by Days Wizard J204 (AI) (ET) (S).
The young bull's carcase, weight gain and scrotal measurements all registered big plus signs in the catalogue, including intramuscular fat of 5.3 per cent and a weight of 780kg.
His semen motility was 85pc and scrotal circumference was 40cm.
The Hauff family purchased the top priced Hereford bull at the 2020 sale for $12,000 as well.
"We've got four or five Days Wizard bulls at home and they've been very good to us," Tony Hauff said. "We thought this bull had good structure and strong muscling and wouldn't hurt our herd at all."
They purchased four bulls in all at the sale, after winning the trade weight steer section at the inaugural Lambert blood feeder and weaner sale earlier in the day.
Three separate buyers paid $11,000 for Hereford bulls - 7W Grazing at Blackall for Lambert Quilpie, Ballater Pastoral Co at Hughenden for Lambert Quad, and CG Glover and Son, Tambo for Lambert Quatro Q136.
Fellow Blackall buyers, JM Allan and Sons also repeated last year's path and took home the top priced Charbray bull on the day, Acton Quality (P) (C6) for $11,000.
Aged 21 months and with 65pc Charolais content, he had an eye muscle area of 132 square centimetres, 5pc IMF, and weighed 820kg.
Two separate buyers paid the second top price of $8000 in the Charbray section of the catalogue, the Clarenden Cattle Co at Blackall for Acton Quarryman (P) (C6), and SP Castles and LP Paynter for Acton Quicksilver (P) (C6).
All up, 50 of the 55 bulls on offer sold under the hammer for a 91pc clearance, with another two lots sold after the sale.
The overall average was $6880, up from $6073 last year.
The 29 Charbray bulls sold for an average of $6103 while 21 Hereford bulls averaged $7952.

Lambert stud principal Scott Bredhauer said they were very happy to see a solid average, meaning the sale had a good foundation.
"Some of our repeat clients around Boulia and Winton are very dry and destocking but we did have new clients showing interest," he said.
They included Bingcliff P/L, Longreach and Bollon, Just Grazing at Coolbinga Station, Quilpie, and Ellengowan P/L at Augathella.
Volume buyers included Wansey Downs Grazing at Charleville who selected five bulls, three of them Charbray and two Herefords, Bingcliff who successfully bidded for four Charbray bulls and two Herefords, and Ellengowan P/L, who purchased five Charbray bulls.
