Cartoon Kingdom will be venturing back to sunny north Queensland in September to reintroduce their popular cartooning programs to the greater Townsville area.
The five day program is scheduled to run between September 20-24 and will feature a fun range of activities including art, cartoon drawings, original Kingdom games, treasure hunts, adventures, dress-ups, sporting activities and much more.
This year the workshop will be hosted between two different locations; Country Women's Association at Garbutt and the Riverside Convention Centre in Aitkenvale.
Thursday night will feature a special night time activity where kids will have the opportunity to learn anime and manga and play high energy games like 'murder in the dark'.
Cartoon Kingdom director Danny Cohen will unfortunately be unable to attend this year due to the unfolding COVID 19 situation down south.
He has passed the baton into the very capable hands of Townsville locals Danielle McCraig, Braedon Ross and Amelia Stringer, who will be running the program.
Mr McCraig, Mr Ross and Ms Stringer met at the camps and have been attending since they were primary aged children.
Mr Cohen refers to them as the 'dream team' as they love the fast paced energy of the program.
As a passionate cartoonist, Mr Cohen says despite what he has been told by others in the past, you can make a career out of art and this program is proof of that.
'If you enjoy doing an activity in life and you have a natural ability to do it, then you should embrace that gift and pursue your interests and make that hobby into a career or profession', he said.
Mr Cohen started his venture 38 years ago, initially teaching cartooning to kids in his parents Sydney garage.
The cartoon camps have gained popularity and grown significantly since that time, now operating in every country town with a population of 25,000 or more across most of Australia.
The camps have been very well received in the north, with many Townsville kids attending for more than a decade now.
