ROGER and Helen Johnston's 551 hectare (1360 acre) Jondaryan district property Naranghi Downs has sold at an Elders auction for $5.09 million.
The impressive sale price is equal to about $9238/ha ($3743/acre).
Located 30 minutes from Toowoomba, the property in eight freehold titles is central to two grain depots, numerous feedlots and two cattle selling centres.
Naranghi is described as a very well-balanced property, running from productive soft self-mulching soil flats gently rising either side to elevated, shaded mountain coolabah, box and ironbark basalt grazing country.
There is about 65ha of well established, predominantly improved bambatsi pasture.
The 260ha of grey to black soft self-mulching cultivation country is currently fallowed and has a good moisture profile.
The property is divided into 14 paddocks. The fencing ranges in condition from as new to stock proof condition. Water is supplied throughout the property from bores.
Structural improvements include a timeless, four bedroom 1800s homestead set in sprawling country gardens.
There is also a two bedroom worker's cottage, machinery sheds, workshop, storage shed, five silos, cattle yards, stables with steel yards, and an old shearing shed.
The marketing of Naranghi Downs was handled by Trevor Leishman, Elders Real Estate, Toowoomba.
