Charters Towers combined agents yarded a total of 3553 cattle, consisting of 1212 prime cattle and 2341 store cattle.

The prime cattle consisted of 182 bullocks, 149 heifers, 755 cows and 126 bulls.
Store cattle consisted of 1552 steers and 725 heifers, 64 store cows and 86x80 cows and calves.
Cattle comprised a mixed run of prime cattle, which saw better quality cattle making similar rates to last weeks sale, with a larger yarding of cows selling to a competitive buying panel.
The yarding was drawn from the Hughenden, Richmond, Georgetown, Forsayth, Mount Surprise, Torrens Creek, Einasleigh, Local and Coastal areas.
Prime quotes:
Bullocks were quoted 5c dearer, heifers were 5c easier, cows were unchanged, and bulls were 5c dearer on last week's rates.
Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 382c and averaged 347c, and those over 500kg topped at 388c to average 347c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 372c and averaged 339c. Cows under 400kg made 262c and averaged 236c, while cows over 400kg reached 286c, averaging 267c. Bulls under 450kg made 478c and averaged 305c, while bulls over 450kg reached 342c to average 278c.
Bullocks topped at 388.2c on a/c Barry Maff, that weighed 511kg to return $1985/hd. Best priced trade heifers were presented on a/c Rocky Springs that sold for 372.2c, weighing 385kg to return $1431/hd.
The top pen of cows were sold by Fry Bloodline Trust for 280.2c, weighing 560kg to return $1569/hd. Bulls sold on a/c Paul Field topped at 334.2c and weighed 750kg, to return $2506/hd.

Store cattle were made up of good quality lines of predominately crossbred steers and heifers, selling to an increased panel of buyers operating to very strong demand, with cattle going to local, central and southern Qld areas.
Steers under 200kg reached 566c to average 493c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 516c, averaging 470c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 464c and averaged 387c and steers over 400kg sold to 390c to average 365c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 448c and averaged 416c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 446c, averaging 401c, and heifers 320 - 370kg made 374c to average 362c.
A pen of 29 steers a/c Fleetwood Grazing made 566.2c and weighed 143kg returning an average of $808/hd. A pen of five steers a/c I Alexander, K Lyon, made 416.2c and weighed 388kg, returning an average of $1614/hd.
A good pen of 14 heifers a/c Timaru Cattle made 448.2c, weighed 176kg, returning $788/hd. 58x52 cows and calves sold on a/c B and A Bethel returned $1880/unit. Several pens of cows and calves made from $1160- $2090/unit.
