AN elderly pilot has been located deceased after his helicopter crashed near Hughenden.
The 84-year-old man was reported missing after he failed to arrive at a property in the region about 7.20pm yesterday.
The Australian Maritime Safety Authority responded to the report of the overdue R22 helicopter and at 7.25pm the AMSA Challenger Jet was tasked to conduct a wide-area search.
However, rescuers were forced to suspend the search about 1.40am this morning due to severe weather conditions.
The search resumed this morning with the AMSA Challenger Jet, six search and rescue helicopters and a fixed-wing aircraft searching the area.
About 11.30am the aircraft wreckage was found in a creek bed, just off Pretty Plains Camden Park Road north of Hughenden.
The pilot, an 84-year-old male was located deceased.
Police investigations are continuing with the assistance from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau.
