Emerald agents yarded 2846 cattle at Thursday's sale. Prices eased, however this was mainly quality driven due to the volume of cattle sold across Queensland.
Heavy bullocks sold to a top of 353c to average 341c, steers 400-500kg topped at 388c to average 364c, feeder weight steers from 350-400kg sold to 425c to average 394c, 280-350kg steers sold to a top of 459c to average 393c, weaner steers from 200-280kg topped at 490c to average 421c, while weaner steers under 200kg sold to a top of 478c to average 427c.
Heavy heifers over 400kg sold to a top of 367c to average 326c, feeder weight heifers 350-400kg topped at 376c to average 355c, 280-350kg heifers sold to 387c to average 355c, 200-280kg weaner heifers sold to a top of 427c to average 382c, while heifers under 200kg sold to a top of 419c to average 389c.
Heavy cows over 520kg topped at 310c to average 284c, cows from 450-520 kg sold to 311c to average 273c, while heavy bulls over 600kg topped at 289c to average 279c.
The Esmond family, Lucknow, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster bullocks to 357c to weigh 535kg or $1911. The Prewett family, Glendariwell, Emerald, sold Brangus steers to 490c to weigh 206kg or $1013. Ken and Lauren Perrett, Barakee, Springsure, sold Droughtmaster cows to 284c to weigh 524kg or $1490.
Charles and Carmel McKinlay, Bloodwood, Yamala, sold Brahman cows to 289c to weigh 611kg and returned $1767. The Hamblin family, Doris Park, Emerald, sold Droughtmaster cows to 285c to weigh 560kg or $1599. Russell and Anita Smith, Metro, Springsure, sold Brahman heifers to 404c to weigh 205kg or $829.
