AFTER 27 years at its helm, Big Country Brahman Sale stalwarts Ken McCaffrey and Jim Geaney are handing over the reins.
Queensland Rural Charters Towers will take over the staging of the north's beef industry feature event to become the sale's lead agent for the 2021 event.
"This sale was conceived in the north, is staged in the north and has the loyal support of beef industry participants of the north, so it was very important to us in planning its future, that the sale remains managed and staged by northern agents, who are in everyday touch with market requirements and conditions," Mr Geaney said.
Queensland Rural's Troy Trevor and Shaun Flanagan said they were honoured to be taking over.
"It has been a real flag-bearer sale over the years for the Brahman industry and the national stud stock industry and it has also put a positive focus on Charters Towers as a selling centre, so we're pleased and honoured to be taking this sale on," Mr Trevor said.
"Jim and Ken's formula since 1994 has been highly successful, enticing the nation's leading Brahman studs to bring impressive sale teams of their top bulls and heifers to Big Country for our northern producers to select from.
"We'll hit the ground running and follow that same policy of exemplary service to all who wish to participate in the sale."
Big Country 2021 will be held at the Dalrymple Saleyards from February 8-9, a week later than originally planned.
