AFTER some great rain in parts of the west on Sunday (see map below), the next week is shaping up as relatively dry.
The Bureau of Meteorology's latest computer modeling shows plenty of cloud over Queensland but only mainly 1-5mm totals over the next eight days (see map above).
BOM's automatic rain gauges shows plenty of 30mm-plus, and even some 50mm-plus totals, in an area from Charleville to Blackall and Springsure.
The best official fall was 76mm at Barngo Crossing, on the western edge of the Carnarvon Ranges, north west of Augathella. A very good 56mm was measured in the Upper Warrego gauge, and 36mm at Ward River Crossing.
Around Charleville, 10-20mm was recorded with some good outliers including Myendetta with 43mm and Boothulla further to the west with 32mm.
At Tambo there was 24mm, while Blackall recorded 5.6mm. Mount Harden west of town was the exception, get under 63mm.
There were some good falls to the north of Alpha, including 16mm at Theresa Hut. Springsure recorded 17mm.
Looking forward, BOM says there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the far west tomorrow, but mostly sunny elsewhere.
On Wednesday there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in western districts.
The forecast then shifts to a slight to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms in western and central districts and the southern interior on Thursday.
By Friday BOM says there is the chance of a thunderstorm inland.
