EXPERIENCED senior executive Stephen Barnard has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Queensland horticulture group Growcom.
Mr Barnard's more than 20 year background includes working in member based financial services sectors and consulting roles specialising in organisational turnarounds and customer focused business change programs.
His previous roles have included as a senior consultant at KPMG, senior executive at international environmental services group Transpacific Industries, chief executive at YCU (Your Credit Union), and chief change officer at ACO Certification (Australian Certified Organics).
Growcom chairperson Belinda Adams said Mr Barnard's primary focus would be to ensure that the needs of members were met, through optimising the structural and operational needs of the Growcom business.
"This will be in the context of recent sector/market issues and in-line with the feedback we received from members via our member feedback surveys," Ms Adams said.
Mr Barnard said effective grower engagement, and the delivery of value and relevant services to members was his highest priority.
"At this very challenging and pivotal time for us all, I am very excited to be part of Growcom on it's journey to be the best grower representative body we can be, working towards the sustainable future of the horticulture industry through effective advocacy on behalf of growers," Mr Barnard said.
"I am looking forward to working with the whole Growcom team in engaging with as many of our grower members as possible, so as to properly understand and meet your needs."
Mr Barnard would start with Growcom on October 19.
