The small Queensland town of St George came alive over the weekend to the sound of off-road vehicles for the CMS Enterprises/Seqorra - Dam Buster 250.
The event attracted 33 entries and sponsors included CMS - Comiskey Ming services, Mikes Shock Shop and the Cobb & Co Hotel.
A combination of short and long track courses was created, as the name suggests, in three dry dams to the south-east of the town.
Racing was on the 14km short track on Saturday and the longer version of 22km was raced on Sunday.
The opening event on Saturday was a quick prologue blast around the 14km to set the starting order. This was followed by two sections - Section 1 was two laps, and section 2 three laps. Car 34 of Brett Comiskey and Daniel Mckenzie laid the fastest lap of 8.17 secs. The pair also set the fastest time in section 1 and 2 on Saturday of 40.10 secs.
Sunday was also two sections but this time on the longer course of 22km. Both sections on Sunday consisted of four laps. Again, Comiskey and Mckenzie in car 34 laid down the benchmark of 44.56 and 44.58 secs.
The pro buggy of Comiskey and Mckenzie (and major sponsor) took victory in the inaugural Dam Buster 250 event. Second overall was the Class 4 'Patriot Campers' truck no 484, and the Sports Lite no 1080 of Benjamin Duff took third place from the unlucky Pro Buggy no 40 of Jan Kraaij, who experienced dramas late on Sunday.
