Droughtmaster cross weaner steers sell for 401c at Nebo


There was strong competition for quality drafts of prime feeder heifers at Nebo.


Nebo combined agents yarded 549 head consisting of 300 heifers, 109 steers, 135 cows, eight bulls and two cows and calves.

Most cattle were drawn locally with lines from Sarina and Collinsville included.

Quality drafts of prime feeder heifers were met with competition from the normal buying panel to a top of 346.2c/kg.

Prices were slightly easier for light heifers, steers and store cows as a result of the quality presented.

Steers 320-400kg reached 361.2c, average 359.1c, steers 250-320kg made 381.2c, average 331.5c and steers under 250kg sold to 401.2c, average 379.7c.

Cows 400-520kg made 258.2c, average 243.1c, while cows under 400kg reached 255.2c, average 218.7c.

Heifers 450-550kg made 320c, average 320c, heifers 400-450kg sold to 334.2c, average 326.3c, heifers 300-400kg made 340c, average 325c, heifers 250-300kg reached 338.2c, average 322.4c, and heifers under 250kg made 346.2c, average 306.8c.

Bulls over 600kg made 259.2c, average 248.8c, bulls 450-600kg reached 276.2c, average 271c, and bulls under 450kg sold to 210.2c, average 210.2c.

REH Pastoral , Nebo, sold Brangus steers for 396.2c weighing 238kg to return $940.98/hd. Muggera, Nebo, sold Brahman cross heifers to top at 334.2c weighing 450kg to return $1503.90/hd. Fort Cooper, Nebo, sold Santa Gertrudis heifers for an average of 328c weighing 328kg to return $1079/hd with a top price of 338c.

Strathdee, Nebo, sold Brahman heifers for 334.2c weighing 368kg to return $1230/hd. K Perry, Nebo, sold Droughtmaster cross steers for 401.2c weighing 214kg to return $860/hd. K and J Parry, Sarina Range, sold Charbray heifers for 340c weighing 303kg to return $1030/hd. P and V Parry, Sarina Range, sold Ultrablack cross steers for 381.2c weighing 274kg to return $1045/hd.
