There was a reduced yarding of 430 head at Mareeba this week.

Mareeba combined agents penned a total of 430 head at this week's prime and store cattle sale. Numbers decreased by 113 head on the previous week.

Three local processors were present along with two major processors, a couple of traders and a small gallery of local buyers.

Local trade steers improved in value up 13c/kg from 335c, local trade heifers were back 9c from 299c and local trade cows lost 2c back from 264c.

Ox suitable for slaughter gained 13c up from 329c, cows suitable for slaughter lost 4c back from 270c and bulls suitable for slaughter were back in value by 14c from 302c on last week.

Good quality store steers didn't reach the top of 322c from last week, back 24c, good quality store heifers reduced in value back 16c from 284c and young store males surpassed the 300c mark.

The yarding consisted of 168 steers averaging 252c selling to a top of 348c, 28 bulls averaging 252c selling to a top of 304c, 92 cows averaging 216c selling to a top of 262c, 76 heifers averaging 248c selling to a top of 290c, 42 yearling heifers averaging 236c selling to a top of 268c and 23 yearling steers averaging 280c selling to a top of 298c.
