A SENATE Committee will come under pressure on Wednesday to force inland rail builder, the Australian Rail Track Corporation, to properly explain how the Condamine River floodplain was selected as the route for the Inland Rail.
Millmerran Rail Group chairman Wes Judd said the senators needed to scrutinise ARTC's selection of the controversial route given the level of concern among by landholders, based on independent flood modelling.
"ARTC has been unable or unwilling to justify its route selection," Mr Judd said.
"Their flood modelling is flawed. Independent flood modelling advice to us, shows future flooding could be exacerbated."
"We are hopeful the Senate Inquiry can get to the bottom of it. We are putting a lot of faith in these Senators. They are taking their time to see the Condamine River floodplains for themselves."
"We will be welcoming the Senators, who come from all parties, to Millmerran. We will be there in numbers.
Mr Judd estimated more than 300 concerned residents would attend the Millmerran meeting to voice their concerns.
"At the end of the day, we want the senators to demand a review of the route," Mr Judd said.
Mr Judd said the Australian and Queensland governments decision in November , to establish an international panel of experts to advise potential flood impacts was an acknowledgement ARTC's work was not up to scratch.
"We are yet to told who will be on the panel, what they will be doing, what their terms of reference will be and when will they report," Mr Judd said.
"Again, we hope the Senators can help us get the answers."
- The Senate Committee will meet in the Millmerran Community and Cultural Centre from 10.30am.
