Rockhampton combined selling agents yarded 3733 head on Friday, a sizeable increase on the previous week's numbers, comprising 1753 steers, 1227 heifers, 628 cows, 50 bulls and 75 cows and calves.
Most categories eased marginally after the high of the previous week. The increase in cattle numbers was due to cattle coming from dry areas and also numbers forced to sell after fires in the nearby districts.
Cattle were drawn from the usual local areas together with cattle from Wandoan to Collinsville. There were a much larger proportion of light conditioned cattle although there were some excellent quality, forward conditioned cattle on offer.
