WEATHER forecasters are keeping their powder dry with regard to predictions of further rain despite some welcome falls in parts of Central Queensland over the past few days.
Bureau of Meterology spokeswoman Jess Gardner said falls of between 2mm and 42mm had been recorded over a period of four days between October 17-20 with Gin Gin the most fortunate of the region.
Not far behind Gin Gin, where 42mm fell, was Upper Rainbow with 38mm, while 26mm was recorded at Moore Park and 24mm fell at Doreen.
Properties in the Banana Range (23mm) district soaked up rain as did Baralaba and Goovigen where there were falls of up to 18mm.
According to the BOM, 14mm fell at the Alma Creek Bore, 13mm at Kingsbar and 10mm in Bundaberg and La Palma.
Kroombit Dam (7mm), Emerald (5.4mm), Rockhampton (4.8mm) and Gladstone (2mm) savoured a sprinkling.
The immediate forecast is for some further falls but no more than 5mm, according to the BOM.
Regardless of the size of the falls, beef producer Paul Tzioutzias, who maintains properties at Stanwell (Stanwell), Baralaba (Glenisla), Morinish (Pittmoss) and Banana (Gineva), said every drop was welcome.
"It's manna from heaven," Mr Tzioutzias said.
"If you get the water, you get pasture and every little bit helps. We had some nice falls at a few of our properties. Not all received rain but Baralaba and Morinish were lucky to be under the cloud."
Thirty-three councils and four part-council areas remain drought declared in Queensland, based on data from The Long Paddock. The various declarations represent 66.1% of the state and there are 23 Individual Droughted Properties in another eight Local Government Areas.
