THE Federal Member for Flynn, Ken O'Dowd, has urged haste for applicants seeking cash support in the latest round of the Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program.
Last year funding of $148,758 paid for upgrades at the Springsure and Rolleston airstrips and Mr O'Dowd said it was time for others to lodge applications.
"In remote areas, like my electorate, airstrips are crucial for the community to provide them with essential services," he said.
"These upgrades ensure access to essential health care as well as fresh food, mail services, employment and education opportunities.' Mr O'Dowd said.
"I urge the owners or operators of remote community airstrips in need of an upgrade to make an application under Round 7 sooner rather than later."
Applications will remain open until November 12 at www.business.gov.au/assistance/remote-airstrip-upgrade-program and phone 13 28 46 for more information.
