More breed and event records were established against a backdrop of strong, consistent and sustained demand during last Friday's annual Glenlands Droughtmaster Sale, Bouldercombe.
The fixture set new benchmarks with another breed record average set at $12,023 culminating in a record $2.02M gross and another complete clearance for the Childs family, Glenlands Stud, Bouldercombe.
Average values climbed by $988 over the previous record set in 2018 while an extra 13 bulls were sold compared to the same period in a clear vindication of the genetic, preparation policies and testing parameters adopted by the prefix.
In a breakdown of the offering 23 led entries averaged $21, 260 topping at $60,000 while 138 unled registered counterparts topped at $70,000 to average $10,736 and seven purebreds sold to $8500 setting a $7072 average. Demand for the physical product on offer attracted both leading seedstock and leading commercial producers. Seamark Pty Ltd, Camila Glen, Camila and Cliffdale, Theodore operated by Jim Gorman, took 41 head (24 percent of the offering) to average an economical $6525 from a field of 44 other buyers.
At $70,000 the market topper was the 26-month-old, Anglo (IVF) (H) (AI), 981kg, 153 EMA son of Glenlands Quartermaster (ET) (P) selling to Anthony and Rachael Anderson, Eddington Stud, Julia Creek. Eddington ended with five to average $27,2000. Eddington also secured the $34,000 Avondale (P) (Quartermaster).
Adam and Shelley Geddes, Oasis Stud, Rockhampton secured the $62,500 Abor (P), a 23 month, 825kg, 138 sq cm EMA son of Glenlands D Turner. Oasis claimed a pair to average $39,250. Twin Hills Stud operated by Symon Duggan, Woolooga claimed the $60,000 Armageddon (IVF) (P) (AI) a 20-month-old, 903kg, 144 sq cm EMA son of Glenlands Pacific. Cec, Elaine and Emily Pelling, Fernleigh Stud, Theodore took the $55,000 26-month-old, 979kg, 143 sq cm EMA entry, Ace Of Spades, a son of Glenlands Quartermaster. The parent stud retained a share in the youngster.
Richard and Robyn Simmons, Avon Downs, Clermont were major investors taking ten for a $16,800 average. Top of their picks was the $50,000 Ahern (P) a 22-month-old, 131EMA, 879kg by Glenlands Orient (P). Included in their haul was the $38,000 Albatross (IVF) (P) (AI). Alan and Jonathon Foot and family, Karin Downs, Clermont were also in the hunt taking four to average $18,875. The Karin Downs draft included the 25-month-old, 935kg Arcadia (IVF) (P) (AI) for $45,000.
Paul and Lisa Laycock, High Country Stud, Toogoolawah took the $42,500 Academy (IVF) (P) (AI) a 19-month-old, 811kg, 133EMA Quartermaster son while JD Lex Investments, Brisbane took the $38,000 Adani (IVF) (P) (AI). The 26-month-old, 933kg, 142EMA full brother to the leading sire, Rambo was sold in a three quarter share and full possession arrangement. Sale opener, Whiskey (P), a 34 month, 1163kg, 153 sq cm EMA offering, made $37,500 selling to Hugh and Brad Cameron, Kilima, Roma. Charlie and Jackie Hawkins, Malakoff Downs, Hughenden signed off on eight to average $11,250 topping at $36,000 for Apollo One (IVF) (P) (AI).
Fred Noffke, Keronga, Rolleston picked up two for on average $15,000 topping at $21,000 while John and Ellen Cotter, Kinbombi Station, Goomeri returned taking four to average $12,376 topping at $14,000. Dale, Trevor and Shirley Jones, Myra, Clermont collectively took 11 setting a $8542 average, topping at $14,000. Ross Kiernan, Bygana, Clermont put together a draft of eight for a $9938 average topping at $12,500. The Thomas family, Mt Playfair, Springsure purchased three to average $9333 topping at $11,000 twice.
Cloncurry based Jersey Plains Station, owned by the Corbett family bought ten to average $7000.
