There was a small increase in the yarding at Emerald on Thursday with 1548 head on offer.
Quality and condition was generally good with just one or two lines of plain cattle on offer. Cattle were drawn from local areas, along with several lines from Proserpine, Nebo and Collinsville.
The normal buying panel assembled with a couple more local restockers operating. Price variations for many categories were quality related.
There were very few calves, vealer heifers and vealer steers in the yarding. Better bred yearling steers made to 284c with averages ranging from 246c to 275c/kg for the best of the heavy weights to the trade. Plain lines averaged 230c/kg.
Heavy yearling heifers to feed made to 272c, occasionally, to average from 220c to 247c and once again plain lines averaged 145c to 160c/kg.
Grown steers to live export topped at 292c to average 290c with 4 score bullocks averaging 285c/kg. Prime 4 score grown heifers sold to 259c, averaging 250c/kg.
Heavy 4 score cows topped at 223c to return a 215c/kg on average.
Heavy bulls sold to 279c with a 268c/kg average.
