DESPITE the tough, dry conditions 25 of the 28 catalogued bulls sold to a top of $7000 to average $4543 at the O'Sullivans Black Limousins sale at Lower Mount Walker on August 30.
Sale topper was the homozygous polled and black bull O'Sullivans New Orleans N48, which sold to Gary Krog's Donnybrook Pastoral Company at Jandowae. The 23 month old, 720kg bull featured a 117 square centimetre eye muscle area, 13/8mm fat measurements, and a 38cm scrotal circumference.
Mike and Chris Davis, Main Arm Limousins, Mullumbimby, NSW, paid the second top price of $6500 for O'Sullivans Nebraska, which was also homozygous polled and black. The stylish, deep ribbed 24 month old Nebraska had a 141sq cm EMA.
Volume buyer was Ian and Joy Macallister, Roma Downs, Roma, who bought a tidy dozen, including two with Brangus content.
Mr Macallister, who has been buying Limousin genetics from Mick O'Sullivan since 1996, said he would use the bulls over heifers.
He said he was focused on homozygous bulls with excellent temperament.
Brad Henry, The Hollow Station, Josephville, bought two including O'Sullivans Not Now N52 by Mandayen Kid Rock for $5500.
Cooroora Pastoral Company, Toogoolawah, paid $5000 for the well structured 1201kg O'Sullivans Might and Power M33. The thick, deep bull had a 144sq cm EMA, 15/9mm fat measurements, and a 46cm scrotal.
Merillyn Stenzel, Minto Craig, Boonah, bought two black sires, while Carl Young, Beaudesert, bought an apricot bull.
Three bulls also headed to the Northern Territory through David Eagleson at Territory Rural Mcpherson in Alice Springs.
