CQLX and the combined agents hosted the second annual special weaner and feeder sale on June 5, with a total yarding of 3354 head, consisting of 1939 steers and 1415 heifers. Steers sold to a top of 306c and the heifers to top of 224c.

Presented were quality lines of both steers and heifers, effectively drawing stronger competition and results 30c above weekly store rates. Particularly, heavier, larger lines, while maintaining quality, sold to the strongest market, with heifers in less demand compared to the 2018 results.

Steers 400-500kg made 270c, average 268c, steers 300-400kg reached 306c, average 265c, steers 200-300kg made 302c, average 261c and steers under 200kg sold to 262c, average 227c.

Heifers 300-400kg made 220c, average 202c, heifers 200-300kg reached 224c, average 193c, and heifers under 200kg made 204c, average 176c.

Bulls under 450kg sold to 215c, average 184c.

HIGHLIGHTS:

K and S Russell, Ellesmere, Dingo, sold Droughtmaster steers to average 306c, weighing 306kg, to return $936/hd. Woodbine Partnership, Woodbine, Wowan, sold Droughtmaster weaner steers for 284c, weighing 297kg returning $845/hd.

Petdes Pty Ltd, Milton Station, Calliope, sold 180 Droughtmaster and Brahman cross weaner steers to average 273c, weighing 271kg, returning $741/hd. Moorvale Pastoral Co, Dunia Station, Nebo, sold 245 Brangus cross weaner steers to average 265c, weighing 257kg, returning $682/hd. Barlow Cattle Co, Glendarra, Dingo, sold 200 Brangus weaner steers to average 262c, weighing 232kg, to return $608/hd.

JCBL Pty Ltd, WattleBrae, Miriam Vale, sold Limousin cross weaner heifers for 224c, weighing 275kg to return $616/hd. Wales Grazing, Biloela, sold Brahman cross heifers for 208c, weighing 296kg to return $616/kg.
