Mareeba Combined Agents penned a total of 242 head at this week's prime and store sale. Numbers increased by 87 head on the previous week. Values improved by 12c/kg on the total yarding, mainly due to a larger percentage of finished steers, bullocks and good cows.
The yarding consisted of 69 steers av. 208c selling to a top of 244c, 42 bulls av 176c selling to a top of 243c, 80 cows av 132c selling to a top of 175c, 22 heifers av 181c selling to a top of 191c and 21 yearling heifers av 204c selling to a top of 221c. Seven yearling steers av. 173c selling to a top of 179c, and one cow and calf unit sold at $425.
The sale was attended by three local wholesale processors and a small group of local traders and fatteners.
