Charters Towers Combined Agents yarded 1211 head on Wednesday, consisting of 63 prime cattle and 1148 store cattle.
The prime cattle consisted of 19 bullocks, two heifers, 40 cows and one bull. Store cattle consisted of 777 steers, 153 mickeys and 389 heifers.
Cattle comprised good lines of store cattle from the Gulf region coastal areas, whereas the limited fat cattle were drawn from Mt Garnett, and local areas.

Steers and bullocks under 500kg sold to 240.2c and averaged 229.3c, and those over 500kg topped at 270c to average 242.9c. Heifers under 440kg sold to 246.2c and averaged 227.2c, while heifers over 440kg topped at 267.2c, averaging 245.9c. Cows under 400kg made 191.2c and averaged 128.9c, while cows over 400kg reached 230.2c, averaging 215.5c. Bulls under 450kg made 270c and averaged 237.5c, while bulls over 450kg reached 240c to average 240c.
There were insufficient bullock numbers to quote on last week's sale, with numbers down by 151 head and also insufficient trade heifers to quote on last week's sale, down by 37 head.
The top pen of cows were sold by Wade and Jody Ryan, Schorio, Mt Garnett for 191.2c and weighed 493kg to return $942/head.

Store cattle were fair to very good quality consisting of a good runs of steers and mickeys from Delta Downs, Glenrock making up the majority portion there was a large portion of no.7 cattle in the store run with plenty of frame.
Steers under 200kg reached 245c to average 245c, steers 200 - 320kg sold to 282.2c, averaging 254.2c, steers 320 - 400kg topped at 256.2c and averaged 247.4c. Heifers under 200kg topped at 174.2c and averaged 167.1c, heifers 200 - 320kg sold to 210.2c, averaging 183.6c.
A pen of 39 steers a/c Richard Colls, Glenrock, made 282.2c and weighed 253kg, returning an average of $713.96/head.
A good pen of 28 heifers on a/c Morr Morr Pastoral company, Delta Downs, made 210c, weighed 313kg and returned $657.30/head.
