QUEENSLAND's Rural Fire Service will host a workshop for Primary Producer Brigades at Miles Showgrounds from 9am on May 1.
RFS's South Western Region acting manager Tim Chittenden said the workshop aimed to bring rural fire brigades together to discuss issues that related to their communities and the function of their brigades.
"The workshop is open to all current members of the Rural Fire Service, and each brigade is encouraged to ensure they have representatives in attendance so they can bring the information back to their brigade," Mr Chittenden said.
"Over the past few years there has been many advancements in the way RFS conducts business and operations and its vital that everyone is up to date."
Topics include membership and its benefits, property mapping tools, risk mitigation and planning, response to fires using heavy plant, equipment servicing, and biosecurity during bushfire events.
There will also be a questions and answer panel forum, a trade display with the latest equipment, and demonstrations of new online tools designed to assist brigade and fire wardens. These include advanced weather applications and fire prediction tools.
"We have put together a strong program with an emphasis on practical demonstrations that will add value not only to the local brigades skills but also some tools that can be used on attendees' properties," Mr Chittenden said.
