A FARM worker died after he fell from a tractor which subsequently rolled on him at a horticulture property in North Queensland.
Emergency services were called to the Gumlu farm after the accident happened about 5.25pm on Monday.
The 37-year-old worker had suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The tragedy occurred at Rocky Ponds Produce, a 750ha horticulture operation which produces over a million cartons of capsicum, melon and pumpkin varieties a year.
The community was today rallying behind the farming family, who are well known in the region and throughout the horticulture industry.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said they had been called to a private property on Monday, to treat a man aged in his 30s who had fallen from a tractor, and subsequently run over.
But his injuries were too severe and he died at the scene.
Work Place Health and Safety are investigating the accident and send an inspector to the scene yesterday.
A WPHS spokeswoman said an investigator spent today at the property.
Police will prepare a report for the coroner.
