POLICE are appealing for information after the theft of about 160 lengths of railway line near Cooladdi, west of Charleville.
Detectives from the Charleville Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) say preliminary investigations indicate heavy machinery was used to steal the iron sometime between December 2018 and mid-January 2019.
About 160 lengths of railway line were removed from the site, which is located on the eastern side of Cooladdi.
A 9m length of lightweight rail line weighs about 2 tonnes. Railway line is commonly used to construct cattle yards and for fencing.
The railway line was relatively new with an approximate value of $30,000.
Investigators are appealing for any person with information in relation to the theft of the materials to contact police.
