Monto Cattle and Country yarded 600 head for their fortnightly fat and store sale. Prices for prime and feeder cattle were strong along with quality young cattle while plainer types struggled. Cattle were drawn from Biloela, Eidsvold, Harrami, Boyne valley and Monto districts.
Bulls sold from 220c to 270c/kg. Burnett Valley Pork sold Speckle Park trade steers to $1632 or 309c. Four tooth bullocks sold to 300c or $1616. SM Schimke penned Droughtmaster trade heifers to realise $1245 or 278c. LD and SJ McLaughlan sold Brahman cows to 249c or $1117. Cows generally sold from 230c to 250c while store cows sold to 177c.
SM Schimke sold Droughtmaster feeder bullocks 430kg for 280c or $1202. Alan Muller penned Droughty cross steers 405kg to realise 285c. BC, J & PL Pownall sold Brahman cross No 7 steers for 284c or $1065. Ian McLaughlan’s Droughtmaster No 7 steers 310kg sold to 270c.
NF and JE Keitley sold a run of Droughtmaster Brahman No 8 steers to average 302kg and sold for 281c topping at $912. Billy and Beryl Avis sold a run of No 8 Droughtmaster steers from 372kg down to 260kg to average $937 or 285c.
Sandy Muntelwit sold Santa No 7 heifers 410kg for $1105 or 270c. A and H Webb consigned Droughtmaster No 7 heifers to realise 280c or $830. M and S Cameron sold quality Droughtmaster heifers for 275c or $935. Trelawney Partnership sold Santa No 8 heifers 232kg for 286c or $664. Billy and Beryl Avis sold No 8 heifers for 260c or $746. WT Ariens and family sold light Droughtmaster No 7 heifers 205kg for 241c. Richie Bowman’s Charbray weaner heifers sold to 230c or $455.
Monto’s next fat and store sale will be held on Wednesday November 21 with final sale for 2018 being December 5.
