TWO people have died after their trucks collided and burst into flames on the Kennedy Highway near Mareeba this morning.
The crash happened at Davies Creek, about 7.30am.
Police said initial investigations indicated that a semi-trailer and a truck collided and then caught on fire.
The two drivers died at the scene.
The Kennedy Highway is closed and is expected to remain that way for some time.
The two trucks involved have been loaded on to tow-trucks and the road may not open until after 4pm.
olice said traffic travelling from Mareeba would not be able to get through to Kuranda and advised motorists to delay travel or seek alternate routes.
It comes after a similar crash claimed the lives of two drivers in a firey crash on the Bruce Highway near Tully on Sunday, August 26.
A truck carrying sugar cane and a sedan collided and caught on fire.
The drivers of both vehicles died at the scene.
