Simmental bulls hit $15,500 on the way to a $6389 average at Monday’s annual Clay Gully Invitation Simmental and Simbrah Sale at Gracemere.
Six vendors including the Laycock families from the Clay Gully, Biarra Valley and Brisbane Valley studs along with invited vendors, Lavarta, Springfield and Lone Station studs saw a 76 per cent clearance at auction. After sale negotiations saw that clearance level climb to 80 percent with a minor decrease in overall averages.
Top seller was the $15,500 Brisbane Valley Muscle Man (P) (20-months) (800kg) (129cm sq EMA) offered by Darren and Manuela Laycock, Brisbane Valley Stud, Esk. Taking home the market topper was Lawrie Jones, Malo, Theodore who signed-off on four for a $10,500 average.
Three bulls reached $11,000. Merv Newlands’ Lavarta Mater (SC) bull, (24-months) (1045kg), sold to Clive Dakin, Gunalda. Rob and Viv Laycock’s, Clay Gully Stud, Esk sold the other pair. First was their 24-month, 1026kg, Clay Gully Magic Million (P) going to Eddy Zania, Coonarr. The other entrant, Mentor (P) bull sold to Mal Dyer, Malanbar, Alpha. Next best at $10,500 was Clay Gully Nitro (SC) selling to the Brisbane Valley Stud, Esk. Four made $10,000. First was black entry, Lavarta Magician (P) selling to Bill and Kay Geddes, Doonside, Barmoya. Six black Lavarta entrants all by Woonallee Halfback (P) averaged $6083. The other bulls to make that $10,000 mark where all traditional Simmentals. Lone Station Mojo (P) offered by the Manwill family, Annerley sold to Lawrence Jones. Clay Gully Mustang (P) sold to Rodney Perrett, Bungawarra, Rolleston.
Bungawarra ended with five to average $7400. Major support came from Gina Warren, St Anns Station, Charters Tower claiming seven to average $4429. Sale agents: Savage Barker Backhouse and Elders.
