Rain lifted the market at Biggenden this week.

Burnett Livestock & Realty’s meatworks and store sale on Monday saw a yarding of 721 head on the back of 15mm of rain. The widespread rain across parts of Queensland and NSW, although limited, seemed to put some optimism in the market with prices generally dearer across the board.

Bullocks over 600kg sold to 288c and cows over 500kg sold to 228c. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to 216c. Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 281c while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 273c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 278c. Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold for 247c and heifers 200kg to 300kg sold to 266c.  

Brangus bullocks from Mundubbera sold for 278c/$1877. Santa Gertrudis cross bullocks from Eidsvold sold for 279c/$1347 and 275c/$1744. Brahman cross bullocks from Goodnight Scrub sold for 281c/$1349.

Grey Brahman cows sold for 227c/$1283 and Charbray cows sold for 223c/$1336. Droughtmaster cows from Gayndah sold for 225c/$1347. Senepol cross cows from Bundaberg sold to 222c/$1374.  Brangus cows from Booyal sold for 215c/$1221. Brahman cross cows from Mundubbera sold for 216c/$1046. Braford cross cows from Gin Gin sold for 215c/$1355.

Milk tooth Santa Gertrudis heifers from Bundaberg sold for 240c/$881.  Charbray milk tooth heifers from Mundubbera sold for 247c/$905.  Milk tooth Charbray heifers from Gin Gin sold for 236c/$786. Milk tooth crossbred heifers from Gayndah sold for 239c/$839.

Charbray weaner heifers from Biggenden sold for 266c/$706.  Brangus weaner heifers from Biggenden sold for 232c/$632.  Light Charbray weaner heifers from Mundubbera sold for 212c/$351.

Young Grey Brahman cows and calves from Gayndah sold for $1110 per unit.
