Gracemere prices ease


Quality was good overall at Gracemere but a smaller buying panel ensured prices eased for all descriptions.


A much smaller yarding than the previous week was on offer on Friday at Gracemere with 3355 head penned, consisting of 1706 steers, 932 heifers, 650 cows and 68 bulls.

Cattle were drawn from local areas and as far north as Collinsville and Bowen. Quality was good overall but a smaller buying panel ensured prices eased for all descriptions, although prime heavy cows were firm.

Slaughter steers sold to  260c, average 235c, steers 400-500kg made 264c, average 224c, steers 300-400kg reached 244c, average 217c, steers 200-300kg made 256c, average 204c and steers under 200kg sold to 222c, average 184c.

Slaughter cows sold to 207c, average 180c, cows 400-450kg made 206c, average 148c, and cows 320-400kg reached 155c, average 106c.

Heavy heifers sold to 212c, average 187c, heifers 300-400kg made 230c, average 198c, heifers 200-300kg reached 210c, average 181c, and heifers under 200kg made 192c, average 165c.

Bulls over 600kg made 226c, average 194c, bulls 450-600kg reached 210c, average 164c and bulls under 450kg sold to 220c, average 157c.


Wotonga Grazing, Nebo sold Droughtmaster cross bullocks to 233c/kg weighing 677kg to return $1580/head.

Olderfleet Cattle Co, Mt Coolen sold heavy feeder steers for 256c/kg weighing 461kg to return $1182/head

Riverside Pastoral Co, Nebo sold Brahman cross heifers for 230c/kg weighing 340kg returning $782/head.

M Maloney, Theodore sold Braford cows to 190c/kg weighing 612kg to return $1165/head.

EM & RF Bella, Oben Park, Nebo sold Brangus weaner steers for 256c/kg weighing 264kg to return $677/head.

Mt Lucas Grazing, Kabra sold Droughtmaster heifers for 194c/kg weighing 227kg returning $440/head.
