It was a big night in Cloncurry on Friday not just with a street parade but also with the crowning of a new Merry Muster Rodeo Queen.
Emmy Gallagher has followed on in the footsteps of Kate Taylor who was Merry Muster Rodeo Queen two years running in 2016 and 2017.
“On Friday night we had the street parade and we saw all the floats and then we heading on over to the Bull Ride and there they crowned me,” Emmy said.

“I’ve taken over from Kate who has done an outstanding job and I’ve got big shoes to fill but I’m very excited.”
On Saturday her first task was to hand out the buckles to rodeo winners and mingle among the big Merry Muster crowd making them feel welcome.
“The Rodeo Queen is the face of Merry Muster,” she said.
Emmy said she worked for Cloncurry Shire Council in the admin building and having moved to the Curry from home town of Normanton, taking part in the Rodeo Queen contest was a way of getting to know people in the community.
