Students at Trinity Anglican School in Cairns have raised $4398 after taking part in a CUA Fun-Run to raise much-needed funds for their school.
Mary Kershaw said the students’ commitment to the run was second to none.
“Our students are so excited about the money they’ve helped raise for Trinity Anglican School and they thoroughly enjoyed participating in the fun run alongside their peers as they cheered each other on,” she said.
Now in its 10th year of supporting the program, CUA has proudly assisted Australian schools to raise more than $23 million and quite a few heart rates, encouraging students to get active for fundraising activities.
CUA’s chief of corporate affairs and community, Jo Kearney, said the organisation took great pride in the long-standing partnership with the School Fun-Run, now entering its 10th consecutive year.
“CUA has been supporting local communities for more than 70 years and after a decade of supporting the CUA School Fun Run, we are proud to be continuing with our significant involvement in 2018,” Ms Kearney said.
“As one of the few financial institutions in Australia to also operate our own health insurance fund, we see there is an important role for us in helping to promote a fit and healthy lifestyle for kids and their families through initiatives like the CUA School Fun-Run.
“There are fantastic synergies between our organisations, particularly the passion we share for health, families and working together with the community toward positive outcomes that are for the mutual good of all parties.
“We are looking forward to continuing to build on our rich history and achieving genuine and positive changes through this program.”
Last year over $4.3 million dollars was raised by schools, with $72, 842 raised by the highest fundraising school and $8,023 raised by the highest fundraising student.
The School Fun-Run program has been running Australia-wide since 1987, with participating schools raising over $94 million in extra funding over that period.
The program is the largest fun-run for schools nationally and provides ongoing support for students and families through their online portal to encourage ongoing healthy habits at home.
