The first ever annual Special Weaner and Feeder Sale took place at Gracemere saleyards on June 6 with agents yarding a total of 3157 head comprising of 2220 steers and 937 heifers.
There were no feeder cattle yarded but the quality of most of the weaner cattle could only be described as outstanding with several lines of steers and heifers coming forward from the local selling area.
Credit must go to all vendors, buyers, agents and CQLX for supporting this sale and making it a success in tough times. The market was dearer for quality weaners.
Steers 300-400kg made 310.2c/kg to average 284.3c/kg, steers in the 200-300kg weight category sold to 314.2c to average 282.3c, while steers under 200kg sold to 306.2c to average 272.5c.
