On the back a successful show weaner and feeder sale on Tuesday, Emerald agents yarded 1290 head on June 7 at the weekly prime and store sale.
A lesser quality yarding was evident throughout both prime and store categories. A large draft of weaners from Alpha were on offer with most of the draft being under 200kg.
Slaughter cattle quality was down on previous weeks with bullocks over 550kg reaching 235c, while bullocks 500-550kg also making to 235c.
Steers 400-500kg reached 232c and averaged 223c, 350-400kg steers were too few to quote, with steers 280-350kg making to 235c to average 234c, steers 200-280kg made to 294c and averaged 282c, while the majority of the yarding of steers were in the 200kg and under category selling to 294c to average 275c.
Both over 400kg and 350-400kg heifers were too few to quote while heifers 280-350kg made to 212c to average 200c, heifers 20-280kg sold to 217kg and average 209c, with most of the heifers portion yarded also averaging under 200kg sold to 221c to average 190c. Heavy cows over 520kg made to 185c to average 178c, while cows 450-520kg sold to 180c to average 171c.
Highlights
The Mylrea Family, Coorabelle, Springsure sold Santa cross cows making to 185c to weigh 656kg or $1216, while Nathan Lord and Family, Werrington, Capella consigned Brahman cross steers to 234c to weigh 374kg or $875.
