The oldest show in north western Queensland celebrated its 135th birthday at Hughenden recently with cold mornings and warm clear days.
Gate and bar takings were up on last year but horse and cattle numbers were down due to another dry year.
Sherilee Honnery took out the Patron’s Trophy in the arts and crafts pavilion with race day fascinators made of kangaroo leather, manufactured at Hughenden’s own KT Australia tannery.
Abbotsford was the most successful exhibitor in the wool pavilion where there were 44 fleeces displayed.
The champion pen of bullocks ribbon went to Mt. Beckford, while the prize for champion bullock went to Delbessie.
Bill Bode, The Plains, Prairie, had the champion prime cow, Telemon Stud, Dunluce was the most successful exhibitor in the stud section.
Champion bird of the show went to AJ Shean in a large showing of birds.
