Mareeba combined agents penned a small total of 488 head for this week’s prime and store sale on May 29. Numbers increased by 213 head.
The yarding consisted of slaughter cows, ox and bulls, feeder slaughter bulls and mixed quality store steers and heifers. Cattle were drawn from the usual supply areas.
One major export processor, two local wholesale buyers, one southern restocker and a small gallery of local buyers were in attendance. The market is under a lot of pressure at the moment.
Better condition cows, ox and bulls have held firm to slightly cheaper. Light weight cows and steers have reduced in value, heavy slaughter bulls were back on last week while heavy and light feeder bulls have remained firm.
