A MAN has been killed and another seriously injured after a double stabbing in Mount Garnet last night.
The two men were located with serious stab wounds to their backs and chest outside the ambulance station on Garnet Road about 10pm.
Paramedics treated the men, but a 36-year-old man could not be saved and died at the scene.
The other man, 33, was flown to Cairns Base Hospital in a serious condition.
Police established two crime scenes in the town, one at a residence in Coolgarra Road and the other at the ambulance station.
Detectives took a man and a woman into custody and charged them this afternoon.
Police said a 39-year-old Mount Garnet man had been charged with one count each of murder and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
A 34-year-old Mount Garnet woman has been charged with the same offences.
Both are due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court this afternoon.
