PREPARATIONS are underway, people are moving in, and so many marquees are being erected you can hardly see through the see of white.
Beef Australia is well and truly setting up shop at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.
Busily making last minute arrangements and awaiting the hectic week to come is stud stock coordinator Bonni Geddes.
Bonni said with a week to go it was definitely the “calm before the storm”.
“We’re all set up and waiting for everyone to turn up, all the sheds are labelled so people will start turning up and putting up their curtains and signs, they’ll start bumping in on Wednesday,” she said.
“Cattle have to be here by Saturday so the weekend leads into weighing and scanning so some very big days then as well.”
She said everything is tracking well for a great event.
“We’re just waiting for the people to start coming in and either being happy with everything, or needing something fixed,” she said.
“It was pretty hectic there for a while.”
Now the stud cards have been completed and printed, and accommodation was organised and profiles were compiled for each of the judges, Bonni said she is definitely feeling better about the event.
Personally Bonni has two young daughters who have been with her mother while Bonni moved into town from Marlborough in the lead-up to the event.
She said most concerning will be the state of her house when she finally gets home.
As for whether Bonni will be back on-board in three years time for the role, she said to ask her in a week.
“Let’s just see how this goes,” she laughed.
