Former father-and-son fugitives and convicted killers Gino and Mark Stocco have failed to have their respective 40-year jail terms overturned.
The pair each pleaded guilty to four charges for a crime spree that included the murder of 68-year-old Rosario Cimone, and were sentenced in March 2017.
Gino Stocco, now 60, was given a non-parole period of 28 years, while son Mark, 38, was given 30 years.
Late last year they challenged the sentences on a number grounds, arguing in part that their total terms were "manifestly excessive".
But three judges in the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal on Monday dismissed the appeals.
"In all the circumstances, the sentences imposed upon the applicants cannot be described as unreasonable or plainly unjust," said Justice Clifton Hoeben in agreement with Justice Peter Johnson and Justice Monika Schmidt.
Justice Hoeben said the overall criminality of the offences was of an "extremely high order" and a significant total sentence was required.
"There was appropriate relatively between the totality of the criminality and the aggregate sentence imposed," he said.
The Stoccos had been working and hiding out at a remote property at Elong Elong, in central west NSW, after spending the prior eight years on the run from police for property offences and other crimes.
The court previously heard that Gino Stocco shot the property's caretaker in the stomach with a pump-action shotgun at his son's urging.
The pair then dumped the grandfather's body in scrub, burnt his clothes, and stole some money and his boots.
Nine days later, they opened fire on highway patrol officers to avoid arrest near Wagga Wagga, sparking a massive police manhunt in October 2015.
They were finally arrested a fortnight later back at the Elong Elong property after a tip-off.
Gino Stocco won't be eligible for parole until October 2043, and Mark two years later.
