Numbers lifted this week as Emerald agents yarded 3300 head on April 12, up 1200 head on last week.
Quality was consistent and much of the supply was drawn from local areas with one consignment from Jericho.
With southern selling centres rates coming back off the pace in the past week, the Emerald yarding followed suit today with most categories receiving a 10c discount, however weaner steers were still relatively strong with the top pen of 200-280kg reaching 368c.
In the prime section, bullocks over 550kg reached 259c/kg to average 253c, heavy steers 500–550kg reached 259c to average 254c, heavy heifers over 400kg topped at 246c and averaged 228c, heavy cows over 520kg topped at 211c and averaged 203c, 450-520kg cows made to 208c to average 201c, while heavy bulls over 600kg reached 250c to average 219c.
In the store section, heavy feeder steers 400–500kg made to 265c to average 245c, while trade feeder steers 350–400kg topped at 283c and averaged 264c.
Backgrounder steers 280-350kg made to 352c and averaged 290c, weaner steers 200-280kg sold to 368c and averaged 326c, while light steers under 200kg were too few to accurately quote.
Feeder heifers 350–400kg reached 266c and averaged 251c, backgrounder heifers 280-350kg topped at 271c to average 245c, while weaner heifers 200-280kg reached 270c to average 226c and heifers under 200kg also lacked numbers to be quoted.

The Hutton family, Waratah, Clermont offered Droughtmaster cross steers topping at 315c to weigh 308kg or $971, while the Prince family, Janibee, Capella sold Droughtmaster bullocks selling to a top of 259c and weighing 533kg returning $1382.
